If your child lives in Newham you will need to apply via London Borough of Newham. But if your child lives outside Newham, but you want him or her to go to school in Newham, you will need to apply through the local authority in the borough you live in.

Key messages for parent/carers

Visiting school

Gainsborough welcomes all visitors.

The document below explains the arrangements (rules) that the Local Authority (LB Newham) will follow to
determine the placement of children in maintained schools.

Infant to junior school transition

If your child was born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013 and attends an infant school, you will need to apply for a year 3 junior place in an infant or primary school for September 2020.  If they attend a primary school NOT an infant school you have the choice of your child staying at their primary school or applying to change to another school.  If they are happy in their primary school you do not need to take any action.

If your child lives in Newham you will need to apply via London Borough of Newham. But if your child lives outside Newham, but you want him or her to go to school in Newham, you will need to apply through the local authority in the borough you live in.

Remember, if your child attends an infant school you must apply for a place, even if your child:

·       Already attends the infant school linked to your preferred junior school

OR

·       They have a brother or sister who attends the junior school
